Another early start today.
We got the underfloor colour-code Raptor coated early this morning, then finally got cab on the chassis around midday. After fitting the new chassis mounts and bolts and squaring it all up, I found the exhaust was going to hang too low and not look cool enough. Sorry Alistair for making you cut out the back half and start again, my bad.
The battery clamp and mount have been made, and it is now sitting in behind the seat where fuel tank used to be. We had to do a remote mount oil filter, due to the new sump not having a spin on filter. Another trip down to 1st Auto Parts had us sorted with more fittings and lines.
Larry got the inner guards, wiper panel, and grille panel all painted. Many hours were spent prepping all the little bits that no one thinks about, the hinges, bolts, screws, brackets, door strikers and catches, hood catch, wiper motor, wiper arms and actuators, brake booster and brackets, blah blah blah, just lots of little bits!
Meanwhile the body guys went hard fairing the tray. Three guys working from 8am right up until 6:30 tonight got the whole rear end, inside and out, ready for epoxy undercoat and polyester spray.
We were very lucky to have some homemade bacon and egg pie for smoko, (thanks Anna May), and at 6pm some berry ice cream to keep everyone cool – cheers Dan for stopping in.
Tomorrow is the last day before the Kumeu Classic Car & Hot Rod Festival. It’s safe to day we’ve got a HUGE day ahead of us to try make this thing look like a truck!
