It is now day 7 of Seth’s Chevy C10 build, meaning we have only 3 days left before the Kumeu Car Show… yikes!
My day started at 6am, closely followed by Rob and Larry, to get the cab floor epoxied and baked, followed by a bunch more sanding and prep for paint. The cab interior was then prepped and painted, baked, and then re-masked ready for the exterior to be painted.
Meanwhile, the body guys got the doors, grille, wiper panel, and inner guards all finish-sanded ready for paint. The tray was also brought over to the body shop for a coat of epoxy primer in preparation for fairing tomorrow, and the underside of the hood has been primed.
While I made a run to 1st Auto Parts to pick up some fuel lines and fittings, the fabrication shop got busy. Bryce removed the exhaust, welded, painted, fitted cut-outs, before refitting it all to the chassis. He also finished fitting the driveshaft which came back from Driveshaft NZ yesterday. Al fitted a new sump, as the one supplied was hitting the crossmember. He then fitted new the fuel system, including Teflon lines, filter, and regulator, all running on the inside of the chassis rail.
To top it all off, the outside of cab finally got painted around 7pm. Now we just have the underside of the floor to finish in the morning, and then the cab will be ready to go to its new home on the chassis tomorrow afternoon.
I’ve probably missed a lot out of this write up, but that’s the short story! See you tomorrow!
